Analysis
IDA only recorded 1.21 Mt CO2e for nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in 2024. That is the highest value across all 55 years on record.
The figure is up 2.5% on the previous year and up 204.6% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in IDA only peaked at 1.21 Mt CO2e in 2024 and was at its lowest, 0.0225 Mt CO2e, in 1970.
IDA only ranks 33rd of 46 groups on this measure, in the middle of the range.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
