Analysis
Portugal recorded 0.0524 Mt CO2e for nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in 2024.
Compared with earlier readings it is down 0.8% on the previous year and down 33.1% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Portugal peaked at 0.0932 Mt CO2e in 2017 and was at its lowest, 0.0046 Mt CO2e, in 1972.
Portugal ranks 60th of 194 countries on this measure, in the middle of the range.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
