Analysis
In 2024, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Viet Nam stood at 5.36 Mt CO2e. That is the highest value across all 55 years on record.
That represents a change of up 17.5% on the previous year and up 381.4% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Viet Nam peaked at 5.36 Mt CO2e in 2024 and was at its lowest, 0.0071 Mt CO2e, in 1993.
That places Viet Nam 4th out of 194 countries with data for 2024, putting it in the top 10%.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
