Benin vs Caribbean: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Benin
- Caribbean
How they compare
Benin currently reports 21.15 kg/ha against 5.74 kg/ha in Caribbean, a difference of 15.41 kg/ha.
That makes Benin's figure about 3.7 times Caribbean's.
The two have swapped places 5 times across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Caribbean ahead.
Benin ranks 23rd and Caribbean ranks 20th of 176 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, Benin averaged higher in 2 and Caribbean in 5.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Benin | Caribbean | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 7.09 kg/ha | 12.49 kg/ha | 5.4 kg/ha | Caribbean |
| 1970s | 5.72 kg/ha | 11.45 kg/ha | 5.72 kg/ha | Caribbean |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
