Brazil vs South America: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Brazil
- South America
How they compare
Brazil currently reports 190.79 kg/ha against 113.29 kg/ha in South America, a difference of 77.5 kg/ha.
That makes Brazil's figure about 1.7 times South America's.
Across all 63 years both countries report, Brazil has been ahead every year.
Brazil ranks 2nd and South America ranks 1st of 176 countries.
Brazil has averaged higher in every one of the 7 decades both report.
Head to head by decade

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
