India vs Northern America: Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen
Biological fixation — Cropland nitrogen over time
- India
- Northern America
How they compare
Northern America currently reports 7.85 million t against 5.80 million t in India, a difference of 2.05 million t.
That makes Northern America's figure about 1.4 times India's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was India ahead.
India ranks 2nd and Northern America ranks 3rd of 176 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, India averaged higher in 1 and Northern America in 6.
Head to head by decade

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
