Brazil vs Europe: Input — Cropland nitrogen per unit area
Input — Cropland nitrogen per unit area over time
- Brazil
- Europe
How they compare
Brazil currently reports 312.03 kg/ha against 79.47 kg/ha in Europe, a difference of 232.56 kg/ha.
That makes Brazil's figure about 3.9 times Europe's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 63 shared years of data; in 1961 it was Europe ahead.
Brazil ranks 11th and Europe ranks 14th of 186 countries.
Across the 7 decades both report, Brazil averaged higher in 4 and Europe in 3.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Brazil | Europe | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1960s | 38.51 kg/ha | 61.92 kg/ha | 23.41 kg/ha | Europe |
| 1970s | 62.93 kg/ha | 92.88 kg/ha | 29.95 kg/ha | Europe |
| 1980s | 72.76 kg/ha | 114.98 kg/ha | 42.22 kg/ha | Europe |

About this data
The Cropland Nutrient balance domain contains information on the flows of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from mineral fertilizer, manure applied, atmospheric deposition, crop removal, and biological fixation over cropland and per unit area of cropland. The flows are aggregated to total inputs and total outputs, from which the overall nutrient balance and nutrient use efficiency on cropland are calculated. Statistics are disseminated in units of tonnes and in kg/ha, as appropriate. Nutrient use efficiency is expressed as a fraction (%).
