Benin vs Estonia: Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from Agriculture over time
- Benin
- Estonia
How they compare
Benin currently reports 1.63 Mt CO2e against 1.49 Mt CO2e in Estonia, a difference of 0.14 Mt CO2e.
That makes Benin's figure about 1.1 times Estonia's.
The two have swapped places 1 time across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Estonia ahead.
Benin ranks 103rd and Estonia ranks 105th of 201 countries.
Estonia has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Benin | Estonia | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 0.3937 Mt CO2e | 1.4 Mt CO2e | 1 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
| 1980s | 0.5348 Mt CO2e | 1.49 Mt CO2e | 0.9548 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
| 1990s | 0.657 Mt CO2e | 1.26 Mt CO2e | 0.6078 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
| 2000s | 0.8751 Mt CO2e | 1.28 Mt CO2e | 0.4008 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
| 2010s | 1.14 Mt CO2e | 1.46 Mt CO2e | 0.3208 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
| 2020s | 1.46 Mt CO2e | 1.52 Mt CO2e | 0.0586 Mt CO2e | Estonia |
Averages of every year both report within each decade.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from the agricultural sector. This includes emissions from livestock (IPCC 2006 codes 3.A.1 (enteric fermentation, 3.a.2 (manure management) and crops (IPCC 2006 codes 3.C.1 Emissions from biomass burning, 3.C.2 Liming, 3.C.3 Urea application, 3.C.4 Direct N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.5 Indirect N2O Emissions from managed soils, 3.C.6 Indirect N2O Emissions from manure management, 3.C.7 Rice cultivations). The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
