Bahrain vs Qatar: Total greenhouse gas emissions excluding LULUCF per capita
Total greenhouse gas emissions excluding LULUCF per capita over time
- Bahrain
- Qatar
How they compare
Qatar currently reports 56.95 t CO2e/capita against 40.55 t CO2e/capita in Bahrain, a difference of 16.4 t CO2e/capita.
That makes Qatar's figure about 1.4 times Bahrain's.
The two have swapped places 6 times across 55 shared years of data; in 1970 it was Qatar ahead.
Bahrain ranks 3rd and Qatar ranks 2nd of 203 countries.
Qatar has averaged higher in every one of the 6 decades both report.
Head to head by decade
| Decade | Bahrain | Qatar | Difference | Ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s | 77.55 t CO2e/capita | 166.62 t CO2e/capita | 89.07 t CO2e/capita | Qatar |
| 1980s | 61.46 t CO2e/capita | 65.36 t CO2e/capita | 3.9 t CO2e/capita | Qatar |

About this data
Total annual emissions of the six greenhouse gases (GHG) covered by the Kyoto Protocol (carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulphurhexafluoride (SF6)) from the energy, industry, waste, and agriculture sectors, standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values divided by the economy's population. This measure excludes GHG fluxes caused by Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF), as these fluxes have larger uncertainties.
