Analysis
The most recent figure for nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from industrial combustion (energy) in Iceland is 0.0001 Mt CO2e, measured in 2024. That is the lowest value across all 55 years on record.
The figure is down 95.5% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from industrial combustion (energy) in Iceland peaked at 0.0026 Mt CO2e in 2004 and was at its lowest, 0.0001 Mt CO2e, in 2020.
Iceland ranks 174th of 193 countries on this measure, in the bottom quarter.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from industrial combustion (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.2 Manufacturing Industries and Construction. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
