Analysis
In 2024, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Iraq stood at 0.1426 Mt CO2e. That is the highest value across all 55 years on record.
Compared with earlier readings it is up 2.7% on the previous year and up 70.6% over ten years.
Over the whole period, nitrous oxide (n2o) emissions from power industry (energy) in Iraq peaked at 0.1426 Mt CO2e in 2024 and was at its lowest, 0.0038 Mt CO2e, in 1970.
Iraq ranks 43rd of 194 countries on this measure, in the top quarter.
The series is highly variable year to year, so single readings are best treated with caution.

About this data
A measure of annual emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O), one of the six Kyoto greenhouse gases (GHG), from electricity and heat generation (subsector of the energy sector) including IPCC 2006 code 1.A.1.a. The measure is standardized to carbon dioxide equivalent values using the Global Warming Potential (GWP) factors of IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5).
